Crucifix
St. James Cathedral, Seattle, WA
I wanted to depict the Crucifix in the moment of in-between, which captures the pascal mystery of Christian faith: living through dying, redemption through passion and suffering. I capitalize on these central ideas through the gaze of Christ (actively downward-looking, not drooping), the texture of His body ( rough as invigorating, not smooth), outstretched arms (blessing, not nailed), and leaping feet (upward movement, not dragging).
